Who is this “Momma”?

Stephanie is a former post-graduate level behavioral health clinician, clinical supervisor, and college instructor who traded in the glitz and glamour of human services for stay-at-home motherhood. She is the proud and exhausted mother of a spirited three-year-old boy, two-year-old twins, a husband with a rotating work schedule, and three cats.

Stephanie is also a fearless customer-service advocate, female-empowerment warrior, and social and pop culture satirist.

Her brood makes its home in Rhode Island.

  1. Hi Stephanie, I absolutely loved reading your FP post, ‘why our parents put us to shame’. I agree with every word there. Thankfully, its not so paranoid in India…. yet.

Its amazing you find the time to blog regularly with 2 infants & a 1-1/2 year old (he has probably just started walking & making you run :) ).

    Great spirit.. keep it up!

  2. Hi! I just started a blog this week and I was wondering how you got your blog to be so poplular! I need some tips! A reply would be greatly appreciated! I love your blog.Thank you!

  3. I love this post! I swear we must have been raised by the same parents. I actually remember my mom locking the screen door behind us when we went out to play! LOL And we got a quarter for an allowance – ten cents in the piggy bank to save for buying other people’s presents, ten cents in the collection basket for church, which left us with a whopping nickel to spend as we pleased!

I raised my kids this way, and my daughter, who is expecting her first child in December, is planning to follow suit.

And bless you for for keeping up with three little ones!

  4. I am impressed with you, Momma. Which may not mean much coming from this youthful heart and mind, but for my young and worried eyes, this post is oddly inspiring. Thank you. :)

  5. Congrats on the Freshly Pressed! Loved your blog!

  6. I’ve enjoyed poking around your blog. It seems that you tend to end your posts on a positive note, even after describing some . . . ahem . . challenging situations. I appreciate that it’s not all just griping. You’re showing that attitude is everything. Thanks for that.

  7. Hi! Loved the post and your blog. Recently my 13 year old daughter asked –”So Mom, how did you guys ever survive childhood?” Interesting question. Perhaps I’ll blog about it :~)

    Keep up the great work!

  8. Love the blog, enjoyed looking around here! Just sent my oldest boy on a three hour car drive with his friends to go fishing, with limited cell phone connectivity, and he survived. It can still be done, apparently.

  9. Very true. And humorous. The not funny part is “the trouble with kids today” is not self generated. It is still true they don’t fall far from the tree. We have a noisy, public faction that is shallow, easily influenced by cheap ideas they don’t bother to analyze over much, and basically unconnected to reality, including their own offspring. These actually are learned behaviors and the past two generations laid the basis for it.

  10. Great article! Thanks for the memories!

  11. Love reading your musings.
As a teen to a mom: U sound fun!
You manage to leave me smiling after i read your post, despite some of them being about the potty ;)

  12. I love this blog! I have a one-year-old daughter! :) I write about her too, but unfortunately I only write in Dutch (so far, maybe one day I’ll translate the whole thing :) )
Good luck from another mom :)

  13. Just found your blog through “Renegade Mama” and am really enjoying it! Reliving a lot of my years when my girls were young and smiling sympathetically. The insanity doesn’t go away as they get older–you just sort of become accustomed to it. :)

  14. Some people just put to much information on FB and the constant posting of everything that is happen can be annoying. It’s a great way to reconnect and network but people need to keep their heads on so there are no regrets later. I use my FB for encouraging others and the every now and then venting without using names or places just keep in generalized.

  15. I know that these things are going around the bologsphere faster than the flu at my house or than Heather West got around at my high school, but I truly MEAN it why I “recognize” the writing on your blog. I hope you’ll accept the “versatile blogger” award from me!

  16. I SO enjoyed meeting you at the DMV today, and I told “Mike” all about you when I got home. You made the time fly! I’m getting a good giggle reading through your posts, and hope to keep in touch in with you! Heck, maybe I’ll even ask you to do a guest post one of these days? Enjoy those kids of yours, as I enjoy my “quest”–cause the grass is always greener, right? ~T. (43 Going on Life)

  17. I heart your work. I know I am not supposed to pronounce “heart” when speaking or write it out when writing, but <3 didn't seem sufficient and "love" didn't just feel right for me because I am so cutting edge and "love" is so 2011.

Check it out. I nominated you for an award.

  24. Love the blog! Always good things to find to read! I was wondering if I could use your quote on my tumblr. The quote about being half italian? It’s SO true, I can relate being half italian and thought it would be something inspiring to post as a quote. Of course I would put your link along with it and let the people know where it came from and from who! Please let me know :) grazie!

  25. What an amazing site ;) Looking forward to following you! I am a beginner down the path to mommy-dom. Getting married next January and then hopefully soon after get the mommy in me going… ;)

  26. Hey Momma, I like your stuff here and will certainly be following here and on FB. I live up in Sequoia National Forest, where I homeschool my 5 year old (yeah, I only have one kiddo, but as time goes on, I am realizing just WHY they had so many more back in the day… someone has to do all of this work!:) We live 1 1/2 hours from town, one way, and are always adventuring as best we can. I will keep reading. Have always wanted to visit Rhode I. It is one of the states I haven’t been too yet… Take good care and if you have the time and interest, I invite you to check out my blog of kids projects and mom stuff.
    Cheers!
